Offering Insights on Multifamily Investor Segment
BRIDGEPORT, CT, June 25, 2013 – Edward Jordan, JD, CCIM and managing director of investment sales broker Northeast Private Client Group, will be a featured speaker at an upcoming CCIM Institute, Connecticut Chapter conference next month. The event, CCIM’s “Mid-Year Commercial Real Estate Market Review and Forecast,” will be held at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT on July 23rd from 8:00-11:45 am.
Jordan, who will participate on a panel with senior real estate executives in the corporate, commercial, industrial and construction sectors, will discuss current market conditions and the outlook for the multifamily segment, an area in which his firm specializes. Conference speakers include executives from Cushman & Wakefield, BL Companies, CRESA Partners and Connecticut Realty Group, among others. Jordan holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation and has served on the board of directors of CCIM.
During the conference, Jordan is likely to touch on the strong, post-recession recovery in Connecticut’s multifamily sector, fed by improving fundamentals which are boosting rents and occupancy. However, he does not feel as optimistic for investors in retail, office and industrial properties, who are generally more reliant on job growth as a leading indicator to help key a rebound in occupancy and asset values across these sectors.
“Unfortunately, the current outlook for meaningful job growth in Connecticut is lacking largely due to higher taxes, regulatory challenges and misguided political leadership,” says Jordan. “Factor in the Fed’s recent decision to wind down its monetary stimulus measures which have kept interest rates artificially low, and you can understand the challenges that our state faces for a meaningful and sustained real estate recovery across all sectors.”
